Must be a public high school located in a Brightspeed service area within North Carolina.
Who Can Enter
Students, parents, teachers, or school administrators can register a North Carolina high school.
Room Requirements
The school must have an available classroom with functioning HVAC, power, and internet access.
Rules & Compliance
Schools must comply with all contest rules, meet eligibility criteria, and be responsive throughout all phases of the competition.

Students, parents, teachers, and principals can register their school to join the contest. From the moment your school is registered, you can begin earning points by sharing content and participating in contest activities.
Schools with the most combined points by the deadline will advance to the finalist phase.

COMPETE & EARN POINTS
Thursday, August 28, 2025 - Friday, November 14, 2025
All registered schools can earn points by engaging their communities. Post content using the contest hashtag #BrightFutureContest, include your school name or spirit gear, and tag Brightspeed (@gobrightspeed) and Stay Plugged In (@Stay_PluggedIn) on social media.
Points are awarded for:
- Social media posts, user generated content, and rally content with the contest hashtag
- Sharing your school’s unique registration link
- Sharing the Brightspeed service check page using the official contest hashtag
Every action helps your school rise to the top—so get creative, get social and get engaged. And make sure you use the contest hashtag in everything, so your points count!

Phase 3
FINALIST AI CHALLENGE
Monday, October 13, 2025 - Friday, November 14, 2025
The Top 3 schools will gain access to AI tools and tutorials led by a professional educator to create a virtual pitch showing why their school deserves to win a new Technology Lab—and how they would use it to unlock opportunities for their students.
The final presentations, outlining both the need and the vision for the lab, will be judged by Brightspeed and Stay Plugged In to determine the final points that decide the winner.

Phase 4
WINNER ANNOUNCED
Monday, December 1, 2025
The school with the highest combined score will be named the winner of the Fall 2025 Brightspeed Bright Future Tech Lab Contest and awarded a custom-built Technology Lab—installed during winter break and unveiled at a special event in early 2026!
